Comp adjuster - 2014 Gas Gas 300 Reiger shock

Pulled the shock down today, time for a service and to play with some shims. While I was at it I pulled it right down and removed the compression adjuster. I had the intention of pulling it down too and seeing what shims were in the HSC part of the adjuster, but I can't figure out how to pull it apart.
It looks like the alloy end simply unscrews from the black anodized body, but there is no obvious way of doing.
Those in the know, is there a tool to do it or do you just use soft jaws in the vice to clamp the alloy section and use the nut on the anodized section to undo it?

Disregard figured it out. Clamped between soft jaws and it unscrewed easily.
It also seems that this adjuster simultaneously adjusts LSC and HSC at the same time. There is no shims for HSC as such, more a check plate style shim that is held in place by a preloaded spring. Winding in the clicker extends the LS needle into the orifice whilst also adding preload to the HSC check plate spring.

Get some pics up Nath!

Also know you've had her revalved so won't be posting the stacks up publically, but definitely keen to hear anything regarding your changes.

From memory, the comp stack was clamped on a really small shim wasn't it? 18mm?

Will do, need to measure up the spring too and calculate the weight of it. Thinking it could be some of the source of my HSC harshness now. It works similar to the pfp on the Zoke forks so the more preload the harder it is to move. At the moment I'm running the adjuster at 3-4 out so that's a whole lot of preload on the spring holding the HSC bypass closed.

And current stack is clamped on 2 x 15.5 x .20's. Planning on going back to the stock 19 x .3 clamp. Along with some beefing up of the LSC.

It looks like when the clicker is at 26 clicks out (full soft) there is zero preload on the HSC spring. At 0 clicks out (full hard) there is 4mm preload on the spring. I haven't measure up the spring yet to work out its rate.

Hey Nathan just sent you the drawings, can you measure the width of the piston band if you get a chance? Maybe a picky

Simmo737 03-03-2015 10:39 PM

I just want to see if a kyb 46mm mx tech low friction piston band will fit, you can get them from chads off-road I think.

Nathan, these were marketed as having a thermal circuit/switch that allowed for oil temperature increase.Any sign of it or how it works?
