fork seal change sachs fork
I just want to change my fork seals in the sachs fork. I can't find anything in the net how to do that.
I already opened up the top cap and poured out the oil. What do I need to do to do to seperate the tubes so i can put on the new seal? |

Should be like doing seals in any other USD fork except the triple bushing varieties.. Have you done this before on other forks? There is plenty of info and video on the net on this procedure. You will also need a seal/bushing driver. It helps to have someone with experience help you the first time.

yes, I've changed seals on my TXT 250 before.
On the bottom of the Sachs fork there is a little allen screw on the side. Do I just remove that and hammer the aluminum part where the axle goes through off the tube?? or do I unscrew the 19mm hexagonal on the bottom of the fork where the rebound is adjusted? |

Put your top cap back on. Compress the fork upside down. You can put the axle back in and jamb it under your work bench if you have to. Then remove the base valve. may require an impact gun. I use a small 3/8 drive butterfly impact myself as it just has enough torque to do the job without the risk of doing damage to the fork. Then go back and remove your top cap. There is a good article on LTR's website on the dis-assembly of this fork. I would highly recommend you you have a look at it before you continue. There are some points that you need to know about the fork caps, that differ from the zokes. You do not need to remove the allan screw and fork end.

I use factory Honda seals and wipers for a 2010 crf450 in my sachs, they seem to work beter and are reddily available.

Do a search on you tube for cartridge forks there are a few good ones
Don't touch the allen just put the spring back in and using some rope compress the forks as much as possible then loosen the 19 (if you have a rattle gun use that instead of compressing forks etc) There is a thread on here recently called something like compression base nut that has some good tips For seal driver u can make one by splitting a piece of PVC pipe Sorry if I was not on my phone I would give you some links

Thanks guys. That helped a lot . I got the new seals and dust caps on now.
Does the 19mm screw on the bottom have a certain torque it has to be tightened with. Seems like i can turn that thing in forever. And you put the oil in until there is a 110mm airgap to the top right? I'm assuming that is with the spring and everything in there. How do you measure that? Do you put a a small pipe through the bleeder hole? |

Spring out everything else in. Think you also need to pump the damping rod a few times to make sure it is full of oil before you measure
Not sure how to torque the 19. You really need a tool to hold the cartridge because it is turning
