manual for 99ec200 front forks?
Hi I was wondering what type of forks the 99 ec200 came out with.I would assume they are mazocchi but are there markings on the fork itself to identify them?I want to replace the oil in them, anybody know where to find a manual for conventional-non upsidedown-type forks?Or maybe someone who knows how to replace oil can give a quick rundown of the process?

Here is on source of info. Check anything that say "Magnum". You most likely have the 45mm
http://www.marzocchi.co.uk/techinfo.html Here is a manual you can order for cheap ($7.00 + shipping). Not sure if you are in the US or not (please add to your sig). http://www.repairmanual.com/motorcyc...6/0/7940/13841

Those 45mm Zokes get dirty real quick, with regards to the oil. A really nice up grade for the 99 EC200 with Zokes is to put on a set of USD Zokes or WP's off a GasGas. Checkout the for sale page for some forks.
Just thought......

If your inspired while the forks are apart you can do this mod which will make them work better.

Does this same MOD apply to the 50mm conventional forks as well?

Nope, the 50's are fine and work really well. Vary the weight oil in each leg and oil height for tuning.

SkiDad, thanks for the info on the 50mm Zokes.
As far as fitting a new set for forks to the 99, 200. My guess is that the brakes will not fit. If they are Brembos on the front like my 98. My 02 EC300 has WP upside-downs and Nissin calipers on the front. Not interchangeable. I'd say you'd need pretty much everything from the steering stem forward. And most likely a new wheel, or at least spacers. Just my opinion though. Jeff So. Cal. |
