Chain and Sprocket specs
What are the specs on the front, rear sprocket, and chain. Stock sizes, dimensions, types, #links, etc. I'm ready to replace the rear sprocket and chain. I may go a bit bigger on the rear sprocket. Any preferences out there?

I'm using a 13T Talon front sprocket with a 52T JT rear sprocket and RK 520 X-ring chain. The chain and rear sprocket have held up well, but my front is getting hooked. I had to readjust the chain a couple times for stretch but just minor adjustments. I have run this combination for a year now, so overall each component has held well in my opinion.
This gear ratio works really well for tight, technical trails. Most time I'm running in 3rd and 4th gear, with 2nd and 3rd for corners (depending upon severity). 1st gear is used only for very slow stuff like getting over logs. For higher speed straight sections, my bike is geared a little too low. I'm in 6th gear and reving high at around 50mph. I'm going to try a 51T or 50T rear sprocket next time. This will make my 1st gear more usable and allow some more speed in 6th gear.

Thx. Any idea on the number of links? Also, I've noticed that when I'm lugging the bike and going into acceleration I get a chain slapping/vibrating noise. It smooths out once my speed picks up. Only seems to do it when I'm in 3rd gear and up. Thx for your help.

I get the same chain slap noise, and nearly all Gassers I've ridden with do too.

I use 114 links with 13/50 gearing to run the rear axle further back.

http://www.gasgasrider.org/forum/sho...47&postcount=1 Other manufacturers use a hard rubber for the swingarm chain slider - it would be really nice to find one that "crosses over" and fits on the gasgas. Part of the chain slap noise is from more slack allowed by the stock chain guide and the result is slapping against the hard plastic chain slider. I like the hard and slippery rubber - cushions the chain and quieter running. jeff |

Mike,
I've been really happy with 13/51T gearing on my 300. Works good for hare scrambles and enduros in the midwest. Moose front and an Ironman rear has given me good life. 50 hours and still going strong. I'm not too picky about chains, any good o-ring or x-ring seems to last about the same. DID, EK, RK are all pretty affordable. Sidewinders are overpriced and it is like buying a used car to get a price out of them. Hawkeye
