Thx. Any idea on the number of links? Also, I've noticed that when I'm lugging the bike and going into acceleration I get a chain slapping/vibrating noise. It smooths out once my speed picks up. Only seems to do it when I'm in 3rd gear and up. Thx for your help.

I get the same chain slap noise, and nearly all Gassers I've ridden with do too.

Stock is 112 links.

I use 114 links with 13/50 gearing to run the rear axle further back.

I posted something on this in an FAQ - look here...

Other manufacturers use a hard rubber for the swingarm chain slider - it would be really nice to find one that "crosses over" and fits on the gasgas.

Part of the chain slap noise is from more slack allowed by the stock chain guide and the result is slapping against the hard plastic chain slider. I like the hard and slippery rubber - cushions the chain and quieter running.

Mike,

I've been really happy with 13/51T gearing on my 300. Works good for hare scrambles and enduros in the midwest. Moose front and an Ironman rear has given me good life. 50 hours and still going strong. I'm not too picky about chains, any good o-ring or x-ring seems to last about the same. DID, EK, RK are all pretty affordable. Sidewinders are overpriced and it is like buying a used car to get a price out of them.
