Default EC300 feels lazy...

2004 EC300.

Starts and runs fine, plenty of power at low RPM but just feels lazy to get 'on the pipe'.

Will get on the powerband but have to slip the clutch a bit to liven it up.

I'm pretty sure the carburetion is dialed in.

Going to remove the clutch cover and inspect the powervalve mechanism, remove any slack.

Is there anything else I need to check?

Thanks, David.

Muffler packing not collapsed. Check carb jets not blocked again. Main jets often too big which suppress wide open, but use care.

Also, check the power valve.
Make sure it's not binding.

And take a look behind the RH power valve cover, perhaps the linkage is broken or has fallen off.

Unlikely because it sounds like it's running smooth, but if you have the carb off again you might want to check the reeds and make sure they're not cracked.

Default Power Valve

Also, just check that the mechanism is clean and decarbonized and any connecting tubes are clean and clear w/o any sludge etc.

My 2002 EC300 felt a bit lazy on the top end of RPM with the stock
FMF Fatty. Tried a Gnarly... same thing. Found a Messico on E-bay
and wow what a difference. Still using an original FMF Turbine core 2
with fresh packing. Not sure if that helps, but made a difference to me.
Good luck. Jeff

Of all the pipes I have experience with - the doma was my favorite... Wide and easy to control powerband with a very impressive top end. Linear...

But my experiments were run 20 years ago and it was on my old 2001 gasgas ec300.

Thanks everyone for the pointers, I'll take a look in the next couple of days.

All the best, Dave.
